These verses remind us of God’s unmerited favor and the gift of salvation through His grace.
Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV):
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Romans 3:24 (NIV):
“And all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV):
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
I end with one of my favorite grace verses:
Romans 5:20-21 (NIV):
“But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
This verse is emphasizing the incredible abundance and surpassing nature of God’s grace. Here’s a breakdown of its meaning:
“Where sin increased, grace increased all the more”: This part of the verse highlights that no matter how great our sins or mistakes may be, God’s grace is even greater. It’s a comforting reminder that God’s forgiveness and love are not limited or diminished by the extent of our wrongdoing.
“So that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness”: This part contrasts sin’s dominion, which leads to spiritual death, with grace’s dominion, which leads to righteousness. It’s saying that sin used to have control over our lives, leading to spiritual death, but through God’s grace, we can now live in righteousness and have eternal life.
“To bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”: This verse ultimately points to the purpose of God’s grace – to offer us eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. It’s through Jesus that we receive God’s grace and the gift of salvation, allowing us to have a relationship with God and the hope of eternal life.
Romans 5:20-21 emphasizes the boundless and surpassing nature of God’s grace, which overcomes sin’s power, brings righteousness, and offers the gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. It’s a message of hope and redemption.
HALLELUJAH and AMEN!!!!
This song written by Annie J. Flint describes the bible verse so beautifully.
He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater, He sendeth more strength when the labors increase; To added afflictions He addeth His mercy, To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance, When our strength has failed ere the day is half done, When we reach the end of our hoarded resources Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision, Our God ever yearns His resources to share; Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing; The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.
His love has no limits, His grace has no measure, His power no boundary known unto men; For out of His infinite riches in Jesus He Giveth and Giveth and Giveth AGAIN.
